MIL-C-17 Coaxial Cable

MIL-C-17 coaxial and twinaxial cables

Thermax/CDT Mil-C-17 cables are constructed with either solid or stranded silver plated conductors insulated with an extruded PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) dielectric. The outstanding electrical and mechanical properties of PTFE over a broad range of temperatures and frequencies make these Thermax/CDT coaxial cables the standard for a wide range of military and commercial applications.

These constructions provide excellent transmission characteristics due to the low dielectric constant. Thermax/CDT (RF) coaxial cables utilize fluoropolymer insulation materials which are intrinsically flame retardant and have low smoke characteristics. These cables have found applications where exposure to fluids, chemicals, temperature extremes and other harsh environmental conditions may be encountered.

Construction Details

Conductor: Solid or stranded silver plated copper (SPC), silver plated copper clad steel (SPCW) and silver-plated alloy (SPTF) wires with 40 micro inch minimum silver plating thickness for all configurations.
Outer Conductors: High temperature braids of silver plated copper/copper alloy wire with a 40 micro inch minimum silver-plating thickness are designed in accordance with appropriate Mil-C-17 slant sheets. Coverage and braid angle as specified.
Jackets: Extruded fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) or perfluoroalkoxy (PFA). Taped and sintered PTFE among other customer-specified jacketing materials are available upon request.
Marking: A printed marker tape under the jacket or surface printing.
Dielectric: Extruded PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene)
